Tanya Eldert, Local Childcare Coordinator since 2003
My name is Tanya Eldert and I started the job as the local Cultural Care Au Pair Coordinator for the Virginia Beach area in the summer of 2003. I had just had my daughter and way looking for a job where I could work from home. I took over region as both a coordinator and started up a local nanny agency so that I could help families explore all their in-home childcare options. After a few years I stopped doing the nanny agency and just focused on au pairs. My main reason was that I was not able to find the quality nanny that families wanted, for what the nannies wanted to charge. I also had many problems with nannies committing to a family and not just going to another family when they were offered a few dollars more.
By this time, I had hosted several au pairs myself and I knew how they could become a part of your family. We hosted au pairs from Czech Republic, Germany and Peru and have loved the experience of creating a 'world-wide family' for ourselves and our daughter. The culture, the sharing of language and traditions, and just the great childcare help that I received from my au pairs convinced me that this was a service I was comfortable in supporting and promoting... for the last 9 years.
The opportunity to meet other area families and be introduced to different cultures through visiting au pairs is one of the reasons we do this job.
I'm sure you have more questions.. so contact me to talk:
